The 2021-2022 Madison Youth Recreation Basketball Season

MBA Community,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 Madison Youth Recreation Basketball Season!  Our recreation season begins the weekend of December 11th and 12th for grades 1 – 3 and the weekend of January 8th and 9th for grades 4 – 8. Please see below for changes in the previously published recreation schedule for grades 1 – 3.

Kids will get a practice jersey at the first session that is to be worn at all sessions throughout the year.  We expect all kids to be on-time, wearing sneakers and gym attire and ready to play.  Parents, please send your child with water and ensure your child is at the gym 5 minutes before their start time as it is difficult to organize and run an efficient session if kids are walking in the gym after their session has started.  Please respect the coaches and players in the session by staying quiet and off the gym floor until the prior session has ended.

COVID. Please note that ALL persons entering/exiting the gyms must be wearing a mask. Players will be able to remove their masks while engaged during their sessions. Please note that we can only entertain a limited number of spectators in the gym and all said spectators must be masked at all times. NO exceptions!!!

Like prior years, sessions for grades 1-3 will consist of drills and informal game play.  Sessions for grades 4 and up will consist of game play.

Recreation basketball is mandatory for those on 4th and 5th grade travel teams.  This is important to maintain appropriate numbers in the program and the quality of play.  It is not mandatory for those playing travel in grades 6 and up but certainly strongly recommended.

We need more volunteer coaches at all levels. Please go to madisonhoops.com and click on the coach’s registration link to sign up as a coach.  We will be contacting volunteers in the coming week.  Please volunteer to assist at every session to make it more meaningful and organized for the boys and girls.  Without volunteers, we may need to eliminate or consolidate sessions, which is far less productive for your children.

We look forward to another great season for our future basketball stars of Madison!
